New Years Resolutions

Hello everyone,

Remember when you are making your New Year's Resolutions you must sit down and think about them first. We all make our resolutions and find that we break them within a day of so afterwards. The main mistake that me all make is to make a lot of them and things that are way to difficult to keep.

Start off with goal that are doable, for example if you wish to loose some weight set a goal of 5 pounds first.... NOT 35 pounds! After you reach that goal set it for another 5 pounds and so on until you reach you main goal of that 35 pounds. Looking to go to the gym and to get in shape? Go and make that goal of a few times a week, BUT! do not work out so hard that you give up because you are sore...little by little until you reach that level where you enjoy going and keep going.

This also goes if you wish to build your relationship with God. DONOT just jump into the Bible and try to read it all in a few days. Set up a daily plan of reading. Also when you do your reading you must understand what you are reading.. If you don't understand something ask your Pastor. Don't worry that he will laugh about any of your questions. He won't because he does care. If you don't have a church or a Pastor then look up on the internet or in the phone book local churches near you that you can visit. Or ask a friend where they go and pay a visit. You will know the right church when you see it...It is like coming home.....

Lastly if you fail at one or all of your resolutions just restart them...As a child remember falling off your bike? I did many times.... But don't tell anyone... WINK...

Dust yourself off and try it again.... Ask God for guidance............... Have a wonderful and blessed New Years.

God Bless,

"Being a True Servant of God" By Pastor Ken Reihl

What I would like to talk to you today about is being a true servant of God.  In the world today many have to have the latest and nicest car, the newest cell phone, the best gold chain, etc. Many look into the mirror and say it is all about me, me, me.  Well being a Christian is not an easy thing. We have to think about not only caring for our families but helping those in need. Some say I don't have time to help others, what have they done for me??
Again that is the wrong way to think.. We look at John 13:5 where it states that 5 After that, Jesus poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Jesus washed one of his disciples feet. I have seen people see a person having troubles opening a door because they have their hands full walk into another door so they did not have to help them. A full bus or subway with no seats and a mother with a baby standing and no one offers their seat. Not saying thank you or just saying please. Yes, being a Christian is not an easy task. But we have a wonderful teacher to follow. Our Lord showed kindness when there was hate, he healed those that society pushed to the wayside, He raised the dead and most of all he died for all of us. WOW, that is a tough act to follow, but he is looking for us to try our very best in whatever we do in life. Try to be the best husband you can be, do your very best at work, love your children with everything you have, live a good life.  Leaning a helping hand to someone shows we really care. As a servant to the most High God we are placed where he needs us and helping and loving others are so important in God's Kingdom.

We read in,  Hebrews 13:16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

But remember this, when you do something good, don't look for a reward. The deed you have don't is the reward. If you go to the mall and open the door for someone and you don't get a thank you... Don't worry about it... Our Lord has seen your kind deed. As the Lord's servants we are blessed and can bless others. Do the very best you can in life, helping and praying for others. Follow our Teacher's lead for he is the light of the World. Amen..

" What do you feed our mind? " By Pastor Ken Reihl

What I would like to speak to you about today is; " What do you feed our mind? "  Our ears and our eyes are the doors to our souls.  What we watch, what we listen to, who we associate with, constantly feeds our minds. I know all have heard the saying; "you are what we eat." If all you eat is junk foods like soda, candy bars, chips and fast foods then you won't be that healthy. The problem is that you are feeding yourself the wrong things. In the same way when you watch something on TV that is violent or watching reality TV seeing married couples cheating that will also be unhealthy as well.  People watching porn may think that there is no problem...Well watching porn has affected marriages causing many to be divorced. Hanging around people that talk badly about others, using foul language or being around someone that does will be very unhealthy too.  The reason it is so unhealthy is for example  when we eat the wrong things our bodies will be will not be healthy and we open ourselves to sickness.  The same happens with our minds and souls.

I have listened to a lot of music so far in my life. Some of the music today I hear the lyrics being disrespectful to women. I heard a song years back called; "Cop Killer." If we allow our minds to take in the negatives of these things we will not be the best we can be in life. Today more that ever you need to be very careful of what you take in....

Everywhere we look today we have smart phones, TV, radio and the internet giving us information every minute of the day. All that information is not all bad be we have to be on guard for what we do take in.

Many times when our cars need service we give it the best care. Telling the mechanic to put the best oil in, when we get the car washed we do the best wash and wax that we can to make it shine. But when it comes to what we take in we settle for the next best. It is time to take care of ourselves both physically and spiritually.

Take in good uplifting music because the music you listen to that is filled with hate will fill you with it as well. I have a friend of mind who loves to send out emails and texts that are off color and really not nice to read. I never enjoyed getting them and I had asked a few times for him not to send them to me but it went on. Well I could have fill myself with the wrong food or put a stop to it. So each time I knew it was a message like this I did something so easy that I will share it with you all today. "I hit delete." I wonderful little button.

In Scripture we see in; 1 Corinthians 15:33
33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

If we continual associating ourselves with people that are filled with hate, using non-stop foul language or rebellion then we will fill our souls with the same food. Today make a change and say to God; "I am your child and I will change what I am to become a better me."

Make the decision to take in wholesome food for your mind and your soul. You are in power to make a difference in you life....

Start today and take in the food for your minds and souls that will make you a better person.

Giving it your all

With so many people unemployed in our country and the cost of food, gas and many other things that we need going up in price is there any way out of this?  Can we survive? The answer is YES.  Our Lord has given us the tools and guidance that will be needed to do the job. But, the only thing that needs to be done first is to open our eyes and ears to listen to His words and to learn.

If you were a CEO of a company but as many and lost your job and can't find work in your field what do you do to take care of your family?  No matter what job you may find  give it 110% of your effort. Do the very best you can possibly do in everything you set out to do.

2 Corinthians 8:7
7 But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

Keep faith in the Lord that this time in our lives will to pass. His gifts to all of us are coming each and everyday. No matter what problems have come up keep your faith strong. The enemy looks for us to give up. Because when we do give up he is happy to take control of our lives.

Psalm 34:4
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

When we open our hearts to the Lord His gifts will come to us. We are not to wait for Him to place things in front of us but to go out there and look for work, take care of our health issues, fix relationships, and lastly work hard in whatever we do and give it that 110% that we should.

God Bless

The Light of Our God

With today's issues in life such as unemployment, health issues, relationship problems, bills and much, much more. Many have placed God in the back of their lives. Many will only pray to God when things get so bad. Placing out faith in God should be a every day thing to do. Placing our faith in the Father for when things are bad, when things are going well, thanking Him for the every day things we have such as our families, life, the food we eat and what we drink.

Pot holes in the road of life will always be there but, God has given us the tools and drive to overcome all of these pot holes. There is an old saying that I would love to share with all of you; "When life hands you lemons them make lemonade."

When life hits you hard or someone you love, change the way you think....Is the glass half empty or is it half full? It is not only the way we look at an issue but how we approach it.

Each day I start by thanking our Lord for what he has given my family and I. Some may say that is easy and anyone can do that. I would say, YES you are correct.  I thank him for my health and I pray for those in need, the church, my family and friends and our troops and for their safe return home. Lastly I pray for myself.

You don't need anything special to ask God for guidance. Start out by saying thank you for everything you have. Say this with all your heart and soul because our Lord is listening and he cares.

Peace to you all and may the Lord's light shine down on you,

Pastor Ken
